Frequently Asked Questions

1- What is the daily routine for the children?

Our daily routine is designed to provide structure, consistency, and a balance of learning and play. While outdoor time may vary depending on the classroom and age group, core routines remain consistent:

  • 8:15 AM – Breakfast
  • Morning – Circle time, learning activities, and free play
  • Outdoor&Gym Play – Daily (weather permitting; varies by room)
  • 11:00 AM – Lunch
  • 12:00–2:00 PM – Nap/Rest Time (adjusted based on age and needs)
  • Afternoon Activities – Creative play, sensory activities, and group learning
  • 3:15 PM – Snack
Food Program Information:
We offer an optional paid enhanced food service for children 19 months to before starting Grade 1, which includes breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack.
  • Families who choose to participate will receive fresh meals prepared on-site
  • Families who do not participate are required to:
    • Provide all meals (breakfast, lunch, and PM snack) from home
    • Ensure all food is packed in a labeled lunch bag with the child’s name
    • Provide food in appropriate containers:
      • Thermal containers for warm food
      • Ice packs for cold food

⚠️ Important:

We do not provide fridge storage or microwave heating for food brought from home.

2- How do you handle discipline and behavior management?

We use positive guidance and redirection:
  • No time-outs or punitive discipline
  • Focus on teaching appropriate behavior
  • Supporting emotional regulation and communication
  • Encouraging problem-solving and empathy

3- Are there any restrictions on visiting hours?

We have an open-door policy:
  • Parents are welcome to visit at any time
  • However, parents are not permitted to stay inside classrooms for extended periods to maintain routine and safety

4- What qualifications do your educators have?

All educators meet Alberta licensing requirements:
  • First Aid & CPR Certified
  • Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Alberta ELCC Certification (Level 1, 2, or 3)

5- How do you communicate with parents?

We provide daily digital reports via our childcare software:
Each report includes:
  • Meals and snacks
  • Nap/rest times
  • Diapering/toileting updates
  • Health observations
  • Photos and activities

6- What is your medication policy?

edication can only be administered when:
  • It is prescribed by a doctor
  • The label includes the child’s name and date of birth
  • parent authorization form is completed

7- Are meals provided?

We offer an optional enhanced food service program:
  • Available for children 19 months to before Grade 1
  • Includes breakfast, lunch, and PM snack
  • Meals are prepared fresh on-site
  • No food service for OSC program (GRADE 1 – 6)
⚠️ This is a paid optional service and is not included in childcare fees
Parents who choose not to participate must provide all meals from home (see Question #1 for requirements).

8- What is the policy for sick children?

We follow Alberta Health Services (AHS) guidelines:
Children cannot attend if they have:
  • Fever of 38.2°C or higher
  • Persistent cough
  • Runny nose with additional symptoms
If a child becomes ill during the day:
  • Parents will be contacted for immediate pick-up
Children may return once symptom-free for 24 hours.

9- Do you have camera in the daycare?

Yes:
  • Cameras are installed in each classroom
  • No individual family access is provided
  • Parents may view cameras on the lobby monitor

10- Is your program eligible for the government grant and subsidy?

Yes:
  • Cameras are installed in each classroom
  • No individual family access is provided
  • Parents may view cameras on the lobby monitor

11- What is the food service policy?

Our food service is an optional enhanced program:
  • Available for children 19 months to before Grade 1
  • Includes breakfast, lunch, and PM snack
  • Requires an additional fee
Parents may choose to opt out, in which case they must provide all meals from home.

12- Are there additional closures besides statutory holidays?

Yes:
  • One Professional Development (PD) Day per year
  • Closure during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day

13. What are your hours of operation?

  • Operating Hours: 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Each child may attend up to 9.5 hours per day.
We no longer charge extended care fees.

14. Information & Transportation for OSC Program (2026–2027)

For the 2026–2027 school year, Kindergarten and OSC services will be provided for the following schools:
Yellow Bus Service (Provided by School Boards)

Shuttle Bus Service (Provided by Stars Corner OSC)

  • $125/month (round trip)
  • $62.50/month (one way)
